Aphrodite
Hand-built ceramic · one of a kind
She rose from the sea. Where the foam touched the shore of Cyprus, Aphrodite stepped onto land, and grass and roses sprang up beneath her feet. The Greeks knew her as the goddess of love and beauty. But she is older than Olympus. Behind her stand the great love goddesses of the ancient Near East: Inanna, Ishtar, Astarte, worshipped for thousands of years before Homer.
Hers is the one power no god escapes. Doves and myrtle, mirror and girdle are her signs; sailors and lovers called on her alike. Love, in its oldest form, is not a gentle ornament. It is the force that moves everything alive. Aphrodite is that force given a body.
She rose from the sea; the sculpture rises from fire. Hand-formed from clay and fired in the atelier, the Aphrodite sculpture is a ceramic one of a kind: no cast, no edition, born only once.
Bring her home
Every goddess exists exactly once. When she finds her home, she is gone. If she speaks to you, write to us. There is no obligation in asking.
