Silver fairy pendants

The fairies are made of 925 silver, and most of them are also plated with 24-carat gold.

The fairies carry moonstone, pink and blue topaz, ruby, sapphire, aquamarine, larimar, amethyst, pink tourmaline, citrine, green agate, zirconia and freshwater pearls.

The fairies are between 30 and 70 millimetres long. There is also a necklace with freshwater and flower pearls.

The shop shows the fairies as a catalogue, for now without prices or checkout. Write to the atelier about the fairy you like. Some pieces may be ready, others are made to order, and other colours are possible on request.

In the old myths of Europe, fairies and elves belong to the Otherworld. They live in fairy mounds, springs, trees and blossoms, and they are close to the goddesses of nature. In Ireland they are the aos sí, the people of the fairy mounds. In the North, the light elves shine fairer than the sun.

925 silver, also called sterling silver, contains 92.5 per cent silver; the rest is usually copper, which makes the metal harder. Silver darkens over time as it reacts with sulphur compounds in the air.

As general care advice, protect silver jewellery from scratches. Storage and cleaning should suit all the materials in a piece: pearls, for example, should not be kept in very dry conditions. Use a soft, clean cloth for gentle wiping. Before using a silver polishing cloth, ask the atelier whether it is suitable for the particular piece, especially if it has gold plating, pearls or gemstones.
